In further reference to my letter to the Department
of July the 15th last, the Committee have pleasure in recommending Kiss H.A.Lawrence to the Secretary of State as a suitable candidate for appointment as a Nurse in the Medical Department of Hong Kong in place of Miss H. Sayer who has withdraw her application.
It will be remembered that in 1910, Miss Lawrence was recommended by the Committee for a vacancy in the Government
Hospitals of Nyasaland, but was invalided from that Colony in
1912 in order to undergo an operation at home. On her arrival
she was medically examined by Sir Patrick Manson, a copy of whose
certificate dated April 15th, 1912, was forwarded by the
Department to the Committee. In the same year she was selected
by the Committee for the post of private nurse in Oporto from
which she has just returned with excellent reports. She now
informe the Committee that immediately on her return to England
last week she called on Kr. Tait, Surgeon at St.Thomas Hospital
who performed the operation, and who has now thoroughly examined
her stating that she is in excellent health, and quite fit to
return to the Tropice.

I beg herewith to enclose Kiss Lawrence's application
form and papers, and to say that she will be prepared to leave
England about the end of August. As she is at present in London
but is leaving for Scotland in the end of the week she would be
very grateful if in the event of her application being accepted
by the Secretary of State, her relical examination by Sir J.Rose
